About the Author
Marcy Kennedy is a science fiction, fantasy, and suspense author, freelance editor, and writing instructor who believes there’s always hope. Sometimes you just have to dig a little harder to find it. In 2007, she won the suspense/thriller category of Writer's Digest's Popular Fiction Competition, and in 2009, she won the grand prize. She's also the author of the Busy Writer's Guide series. Alongside her own writing, Marcy works as a freelance editor and teaches classes on craft and social media. You can find her blogging about writing and about the place where real life meets science fiction, fantasy, and myth on her website.

An Invaluable Resource

I finished reading this book for the first time a few minutes ago. I say "for the first time" because I want to review it again soon. It was that good. This is a guide in all the best senses of the word, but the first that comes to mind is how simply she presents the topic. No, not simple as in sparse, but simple in that she makes it easy to understand while utilizing excellent examples. It was a guide, but now it's an invaluable reference.
I took algebra in junior high and again in high school and struggled both times. In college I took it again from an instructor who knew how to teach the subject and the mathematical lightbulb went on above my head. This guide was like that. It was as if she knew the questions that would surface before I did. I'd end a chapter with a half-a-dozen, "But what about...?" and she'd answer all those questions and more in the next chapter or the one after. Marcy Kennedy isn't just a good good guide author, she's an excellent teacher.
This is the first of Ms. Kennedy's guides that I've read, but it won't be the last. She knows how to present a subject, explain it, teach it, and leave you excited at the thought of utilizing what you've learned. I knew I wanted to learn deep POV when I purchased the book, but by the second chapter I was excited to get to work. I highly recommend this book.

What I like most is the "Take it to the Page" section ...

I have purchased the entire Busy Writer Guide series, and this book is one that I had been waiting for. It's taken me so long to really wrap my head around writing in deep point of view and Ms. Kennedy explains it so clearly, it almost feels effortless. What I like most is the "Take it to the Page" section which let me apply these techniques to my own writing. To me, this makes all the difference in the world. It is one thing to read books on writing techniques, it is an entirely different learning experience when you have practical guides to apply in your own writing. I recommend any writer at any level to read this or any of the other books in the Bus Writer Guide series, you won't be disappointed.

I loved this book!

I've been searching for this book for years and Ms. Kennedy hit it amazingly. She gives examples, details, and guidelines in a way any writer could incorporate into their own writing. She also does it clearly and to the point, not taking up a lot of reading time. It's full of good tools and information, and has become a perfect referrence I'll continue to use.
